Writing a good book synopsis requires a full understanding of the book in question. It is impossible to write a synopsis on a book that you have not read. Make notes as you read the book. After you finish the book, go back through it and make a few notes about things that you want to include in the synopsis, information that your reader needs.

A summary should be written independently. When writing a summary, it is not necessary for you to imitate how the author had summarized his or her own text. In fact, you should be able to write the summary using your own understanding, style, and manner. Restate it with the use of your own understanding. Do not even consider quoting the writer.
